America\'s Super Bowl on February 4th featured a bitcoin futures ad in between TV segments. The game, the biggest event in the American sporting calendar, is watched by an average audience of over 111 million viewers – more than a third of the entire population – and is the biggest TV event of every year.
\r\nCompetition for commercial break advertising is fierce, and any company with the clout to get a slot for this peak time viewing is assured of getting its message across to the whole country. It therefore demonstrated a big step forward in cryptocurrency acceptability that one of those adverts should have mentioned Bitcoin. The TD Ameritrade ad featured a couple of financial traders talking to Lionel Richie, busy making a laptop trade. The tongue-in-cheek dialogue was directed at promoting Ameritrade\'s recent adoption of 24-hour weekday trading.
\r\nThe two financiers attempt to get Richie to say that trading can be done \"All Night Long\" – which he of course avoids. The 1983 song for which he is famous is heard only as a background in the last moments, when credits roll and the tagline \'Bitcoin Futures Available. Fiesta Forever.\' comes up. TD Ameritrade adopted the trading of bitcoin when the cryptocurrency was launched on the Chicago stock markets in December, and they foresee a strong upsurge in consumer interest.
