It was announced on February 15th that a number of Ethereum projects are joining forces to establish an Ethereum Community Fund. The ECF will direct its energies towards speeding up developments in blockchain infrastructure and distributed ledger applications.
\r\nThe mission is to build a genuine, cohesive Ethereum community, offering development teams an open environment for collaboration and sharing of ideas, so that they can become a fundamental part of the wider ecosystem. Project members already in the Ethereum space include Golem, OmiseGO, Raiden, Cosmos and Global Brain Blockchain Labs.
\r\nMany of these have expressed their delight and excitement at being part of the endeavour, with the more well-established members expected to act as support for emerging projects, by expanding the base infrastructure and enabling a more nurturing environment. To do this they will create an \"Infrastructure Grant Program,\" to support both organisations and individuals financially. With this help, new ventures can build up the required infrastructure to secure the wider Ethereum ecosystem. Despite its major success, Ethereum still has much unfulfilled potential, and must exceed public expectations to reach mainstream adoption.
\r\nJun Hasegawa, the CEO of OmiseGO, said that while one project alone could disrupt a system, a collective collaboration such as this could create \"a framework that will change the world.\"
The blockchain industry has grown exponentially, disrupting traditional markets and creating new opportunities for innovation.
