Australian Computer Scientist Craig Wright Found in Contempt by UK High Court

Craig Wright, an Australian computer scientist who has previously asserted himself as Bitcoin’s enigmatic founder, Satoshi Nakamoto, has been declared in contempt of court by the UK’s High Court.

Justice James Mellor determined that Wright violated a March court order that barred him from initiating or threatening any legal proceedings related to Bitcoin. As a result, Wright received a suspended 12-month prison sentence, which will be activated if he breaches the order within the next two years.

The legal action, initiated by the Crypto Open Patent Alliance (COPA), uncovered that Wright had made claims exceeding £900 billion concerning Bitcoin’s intellectual property rights, directly contravening the existing court directive.

Although Wright has expressed intentions to appeal the decision, the ruling solidifies the stance that he is not the creator of Bitcoin.
