Australia is currently holding an Innovation Summit in Sydney (February 12th and 13th), with the theme "Powering the Digital Economy." Speakers from around the world will showcase innovative projects, many of which are based on blockchain technology. They will share their ideas for a sustainable future, and how to manage the energy drain that comes with increased technological implementation.
The hosts are an Australian company, Schneider Electric. Predicting a doubling of global energy consumption by 2050, the company will be exploring the paradox of how to continue with programmes for digitising, urbanising and industrialising the world, while at the same time sustaining our natural resources and limiting the damage we are causing to the environment.
The agenda includes learning sessions and input from Schneider customers as well as experts and concept leaders. Keynote speakers include an expert adviser on digital matters, Steve Vamos, and David Martin, Managing Director of Power Ledger. Power Ledger is a world leader in blockchain energy solutions, and has its own native cryptocurrency token, the POWR, which is ranked at #72 in global market cap valuations.
Power Ledger's platform enables P2P distribution of surplus renewable energy. This energy can be generated in either residential or commercial operations, and connected to a micro-grid or to existing distribution networks.
The blockchain industry has grown exponentially, disrupting traditional markets and creating new opportunities for innovation.
