EOS New York tweeted a photo of its first Meetup session in the Big Apple, praising the great turn-out of attendees from all round the world. The inaugural session was hosted by the new EOS Meetup group, with a presentation by Thomas Cox, Vice President of Product at open-source software start-up, Block One.
EOS has Meetup groups in locations as diverse as South Korea and Spain, Romania and Argentina, Japan and Canada, as well as groups in many US cities. The blockchain community is very much a community, with people making their common interest a reason to meet and socialise as well as share tech-geek information. In total, EOS has 64 Meetups in 50 cities in 21 countries, and a following of 29,872 members.
Meetup is a social networking app that links people with common interests across an infinite range of topics, from food, books and music to hackathons and huggers. Many blockchainers and cryptocurrency enthusiasts are Meetup fans, with Bitcoin and Ethereum probably boasting the most groups since they have been been around longest. NEO is a strong contender, too, and both their coins and their community got a huge boost last week with the completion of their successful DevCon in San Francisco.
The blockchain industry has grown exponentially, disrupting traditional markets and creating new opportunities for innovation.
