The non-profit organisation SENS Research Foundation has received a large crypto-based donation from Vitalik Buterin, one of the co-founders of the popular cryptocurrency Ethereum. Buterin reportedly donated $2.4 million worth of Ethereum to the foundation. The SENS Research Foundation specialises in the undertaking of research into diseases that come with age.
\r\nButerin said that he had been a fan of the founder of the foundation\'s work since he was young, and was happy that he could now contribute to the cause by offering a donation. Buterin said that the issue of age related disease was one of the biggest challenges currently facing humanity, and that the fund was in line with his desire to impact people across the globe.
\r\nVitalik Buterin is a Toronto-based programmer. He wrote his first white paper on Ethereum in 2013. Following the white paper release, several other developers showed an interest in the project and collaborated on their own white papers.
\r\nIn 2014, Buterin and his team set up a crowdfunding campaign, in which they raised more than $18m. A year later, they undertook their first live release, Frontier. The funds for the campaign are currently managed by the Ethereum Foundation.
