A Reddit user named ‘Viper2097’ has put forward a theory that the current theme of the Bitcoin bubble, and volatile price rises in recent times, may have been predicted as far back as the 16th century, through the famous seer Nostradamus.
\r\nMany people believe that Michel de Nostredame accurately foresaw such historical moments as the Great Fire of London, the rise of Hitler, 9/11 and the atomic bomb. Now, this Reddit user has found a passage from his book ‘Les Propheties’ from 1555 that he says shows the rise of digital currency.
\r\nThe passage that he points to says that ‘We will see a great nation sorely troubled... when a new source of gold and silver is discovered’. Believers of the power of Nostradamus and the vague passages that have been thought to point to real future events, will say that this specific passage predicts a collapse in traditional financial institutions as a new form of money comes into being.
\r\nOf course, as with any historical (and vague) text, the meanings can be turned into anything you want to read from it. In the midst of a decline in value, however, it is a fun story associated with Bitcoin for the first time in a few days.
