The US-based crypto exchange, Kraken, is finally functional again, going back up online at 11.30 UTC on January 13th. The exchange had been down for more than two days, after an upgrade originally intended to take only two hours.
\r\nStarting at 0500 UTC on January 11th, the scheduled upgrade was not completed by 0700, and the system was offline for 54 and a half hours, while ongoing maintenance issues were solved. Customers were kept in the dark as Kraken\'s status page was updated only sporadically, citing their discovery of a glitch in the production environment and promising progress.
\r\nUsers of the exchange were already unhappy with Kraken\'s service, saying they had difficulties making exchanges and that they were encountering frequent errors in connecting to the site. Many people were even more incensed to be told in a Kraken update that those working on the problem had gone home to bed.
\r\nAt 0346 UTC on January 12th, Kraken posted a message on the site announcing that they were close to relaunching the exchange. However, since they didn\'t want their engineering team to pass out on the job, they were going to get some rest, entailing several more hours of delay. They would then be in a better position to react to glitches during the launch and monitor the system more efficient.
