d10e, the world\'s leading decentralisation conference, kicks off today in Silicon Valley, where it first started in 2014. There have been 15 editions of d10e since then, in various venues around the world, with the acronym (or more correctly, numeronym) being adopted as a universal symbol for decentralisation and its associated blockchain technology. At this 16th Edition of d10e, there will be a $200,000 prize for an ICO pitch competition, and an exciting array of speakers and workshops, not to mention a day of wine-tasting in the Napa Valley.
\r\nSkycoin\'s Chief Operating Officer, Bradford Stephens, will be speaking at 1430 PST (2230 GMT) on \"Building the Decentralised Internet,\" and Skycoin will be livestreaming it on their Facebook page. The Skycoin project began as long ago as 2012, when they first started work on replacing the Proof-of-Work protocol. Software development started soon thereafter, with the first version of the Skycoin blockchain launched in 2013. They conducted a pre-ICO in 2014 and the ICO itself in 2016.
\r\nSince then the project has gained considerable momentum in its mission to replace the internet with a true, decentralised cryptocurrency-based network. Using their privacy-based P2P Skywire bandwidth, users will earn Skycoin by sharing bandwidth, and use it to pay for access, ensuring net neutrality and super-speed sharing.
