This is thanks to a series of raids on websites who are using bitcoin as a means of receiving payment for illegal goods such as Silk Road. It is estimated that the FBI holds around $120 million in bitcoin.

\r\nOne of the first transactions carried out using bitcoin was the payment of 10,000 bitcoins for a pizza. In 2009 when the payment was made, the bitcoins had a value of around $25. Today they would be worth considerably more.
