During the North American Bitcoin Conference, attendees made it quite clear that take of increased government regulation of the cryptocurrency had not dampened their interest.
Francesco Nazari Fusetti, the co-founder of Aidcoin, said that it would be impossible to entirely ban the trading and exchange of bitcoin because increasing regulation would only increase the cryptocurrencies popularity. He went on to say that he believes that once knowledge of bitcoin and Blockchain technology becomes widespread, a lot of the fear which surrounds the industry will drop away.
After soaring in price during 2017, bitcoin has had a bumpy few weeks, with governments around the world announcing that they plan to either ban or severely restrict the use of the cryptocurrency. The US Treasury is also starting to pursue bitcoin startups because it believes that they lack the safeguards needed to prevent money laundering.
In the past week, bitcoin and other alt-coins have lost between 30% and 50% of their value, which has made some investors worry that the bitcoin bubble has finally popped. However, as Francesco Nazari Fusetti shows, there are still plenty of bitcoin believers out there who have faith that the cryptocurrency is here to stay.
