The recent news that eBay was moving away from its first ever payment provider, Paypal sent panic across the stock market. Yet now, it is rumoured that eBay may join forces with Bitcoin. It comes after the auction giant partnered with the payment platform, Adyen.
\r\nAyden has previously joined forces with BitPay, accepting digital currency payments. In 2015, the pair said they want bitcoin adoption to expand globally yet it seems nothing accumulated. This latest news does, however, imply that Ayden is willing to explore the use of cryptocurrencies.
\r\nAt the end of 2017, Senior Vice President of eBay Americas, Scott Cutler, revealed that eBay was considering accepting Bitcoin as a payment form in light of cryptocurrencies being popular. However, he also commented that it would be a long time before any progress was made. Now, it has been confirmed that the contract between Paypal and eBay will end in 2020 and Ayden will then become the primary card processor for all eBay users.
\r\nIn other news, Wikipedia has also begun accepting Bitcoin as a method for donations and payments. Also known as the Wikimedia Foundation, users can now use Bitcoin as reoccurring donations or one-off payments. Wikipedia also processes funds via the Square Cash app/card/system, which also just incorporated Bitcoin into its system.
