The ECB (European Central Bank) is conducting its third Youth Dialogue, and at #AskDraghi is inviting young people from 16-35 who are interested in questioning the Bank\'s President, Mario Draghi, to put forward their issues. Using Facebook or Twitter, Europe\'s youth have until January 23rd to submit queries on a diversity of financial topics, including cryptocurrencies and the potential for a global economic crisis. President Draghi is scheduled to answer these questions on February 12th, in a series of video responses.
\r\nTwo of the six sample questions listed on the announcement page were about Bitcoin, while one of the three pages to which young people were directed for more information was on cryptocurrencies and blockchain. The ECB made a similar announcement on Twitter on January 18th, highlighting Bitcoin as a topic for discussion; specifically whether it might \"offer a viable alternative to traditional currencies.\"
\r\nAlthough Draghi appears to be spearheading the ECB focus on crypto, he has in the past downplayed any impact they may have on the European economy, stating in November 2017 that they were not a threat. A month prior to that he said in an interview with CNBC that cryptocurrencies were \"not mature enough to regulate,\" although, in technological terms, three months can be a long time.
