With less than a week to go until the North American Bitcoin Conference is held, the organisers have announced that they will no longer be accepting bitcoin payments for any ticket purchases.

A message on the conference\'s official website stated that cryptocurrency was being withdrawn as a payment option due to \"network congestion\" and the need to manually process payments.

The move further underlines the issues created by the high transaction fees and extended confirmation times associated with Bitcoin technology. Anyone who wishes to purchase a ticket in the days before the conference will now need to use fiat currency.

The event is due to take place on January 18/19th in Miami, Florida, and aims to cover a variety of topics included Bitcoin, Ethereum, token sale mechanics, Blockchain technology, ICOs and regulation, with a number of industry speakers and thought leaders giving presentations during the event. 

While it may seem somewhat ironic that a Bitcoin conference cannot accept payments in Bitcoin, the organisers are hopeful that in future they will not face the same problems; that the community will become more united in terms of scaling, and that when this occurs, global adoption will become a reality.
