Users of the BitGrail exchange have reacted angrily to the introduction of mandatory account verification. When BitGrail first launched, it did not require any information from users to verify their account, or any withdrawals or deposits which they wished to make.
\r\nHowever, within the past 24 hours, users have noticed that if they attempt to withdraw funds from the exchange, they receive a message stating that account verification is required. In a message posted on Reddit, BitGraildefended their actions, saying that the changes were necessary as the company had to comply with laws and regulations. The primary concern of most users was that the funds in the BitGrail account were effectively being held hostage, as there is now no way to withdraw them without providing personal information.
\r\nBitGrail countered that even under the updated Terms of Service, users could still request that their account be closed with any funds being forwarded on to the user. However, this response did not please users, who complained that the process of closing a BitGrail account could take up to 4 weeks, during which they would have no access to their funds.
\r\nThe BitGrail is one of the few exchanges which deals in RaiBlocks (XRB), and some users fear that the push for increased verification of users could have a negative impact on the value of the cryptocurrency.
