Dent has reaffirmed its commitment to Ethereum by applying to join the Enterprise Ethereum Alliance. The company hopes to create an open global marketplace for P2P mobile data exchange, and thereby disrupt the existing monopoly of data packaging by individual telecoms corporations in separate countries. Tero Katajainen, Founder and CEO of the Hong Kong-based Dent Wireless Ltd, wants to decentralise mobile data packaging so that a free exchange is accessible anywhere in the world. This would also get rid of roaming charges and allow trading of unused data capacity.
\r\nOriginally founded in 2014 as Commando Coder Ltd, the company gained investors in 2017 for the Dent project, which incorporated some of the marketplace technology created by Katajainen. The company released its iOS 1.0 version in December 2017 and is planning the release of an Android version at the Mobile World Congress to be held in Barcelona on 26th February.
\r\nDent users purchase the cryptocurrency coins (which cannot be mined) with ETH. They can then use the DENT tokens for trading transactions on the Ethereum blockchain. Users can sell or donate unused data and someone else can buy it, via a smart contract. The project has already gained a 40 million-strong following in India and Brazil, and hopes soon to take on the United States and Mexico.
Zloadr is launching a new token exchange powered by its audience.
