Bill Gates and Microsoft was an early supporter of Bitcoin but in early 2018 the tech giant has come to a shock decision.

Bill Gates was an early supporter of Bitcoin, and Microsoft was one of the first major companies to adopt it as a payment method, but in early 2018 the tech giant has come to a shock decision. Dealing a severe blow to cryptocurrency enthusiasts, the Microsoft Corporation has decided to remove Bitcoin as a payment option from its list of \"active payment instruments.\"

\r\n

Following the rollercoaster ride of the leading digital currency in late 2017, when it was launched on the Chicago futures markets, Bitcoin subsequently took a plunge in early 2018. This volatility and the associated risks of cryptocurrency trading appear to be the reason behind Microsoft\'s decision, which its customer service reps have confirmed in publicly posted chat sessions.

\r\n

The high volume of trading experienced in recent months has also made using Bitcoin increasingly difficult. Protests have been raised over their high network fees and long delays in transaction confirmation times, making it more a store of value than a viable currency.

\r\n

Bitcoin can still be used by customers wishing to add money to Microsoft accounts, which can then be used to buy apps, movies, and games, but not for purchases in the Microsoft store. In addition, any funds so added will be non-refundable.
