Kai Pasing, Head of CEO Office (Central Europe) at Fujitsu has revealed a picture of himself with Dominik Schiener, one of the co-founders of IOTA, in order to inform his followers that the duo will be discussing a possible payments partnership.
\r\nFujitsu has expressed a keen interest in supporting the trading of data securely on a decentralised ledger. The company are currently looking to support an open flow of data in the Internet of Things, to realise the vision and potential of Big Data.
\r\nThe IOTA ledger is supported by a \"Tangle\", which is a new data structure crafted from a Directed Acyclic Graph. Compared to a traditional blockchain, IOTA does not make use of any blocks (or chain), and no mining takes place. As there are no miners, those that want to make transactions have to engage with IOTA and achieve consensus by approving two previous transactions, allowing for validity to be attested for and consensus of the network to be achieved.
\r\nThis unique technology enables specific characteristics not seen in similar systems, including; greater stability, zero transactions fees, a totally decentralised system (thanks to it requiring no miners) and the promise of quantum-immunity.
