In a first within luxury real estate circles, a digital currency investor has sold his Miami home for Bitcoin. The 455 Bitcoin property transaction makes it the most expensive of its kind.
\r\nThe luxury home (a seven-bedroom house in the upmarket Ponce Davis area of Miami) was put on the market in the summer of 2017. The listing was placed by the owner, Michael Komaransky, for $6.5 million. But the twist? The amount was payable either in cash or Bitcoin.
\r\nOn February 1st the sale was confirmed, with the buyer purchasing the home for 455 Bitcoin, or a value of around 6 million dollars at the time. By conducting the whole transaction in Bitcoin alone it marks it out as not only the biggest crypto real estate sale, but also only the second time that a property has been sold in Florida using only digital currency.
\r\nThe buyer was, like the seller, an early adopter and investor in Bitcoin, and both parties wished to make a public statement about how Bitcoin, and other digital currencies, can be used to pay for almost anything in everyday life, despite what some governments are beginning to tell the general public.
