The Pineapple Fund made headlines on January the 14th when it pledged a donation of $1 million to the Open Medicine Foundation. The OMF undertakes research into debilitating chronic illnesses, such as chronic fatigue syndrome. The Pineapple Fund has now said that it will increase its generous donation of $1 million to a staggering $5 million. 

The funding will be used by the OMF to develop diagnostic testing for the illnesses they research, to further develop their data analysis and to help them build technology that will help support better treatment options for sufferers. 

Following its initial donation, the Pineapple Fund received widespread virtual applause on its social media channels, as well as from the Reddit community, thousands of internet users posted their thanks in response to the company\'s generosity. Many praised the company\'s decision to support sufferers of diseases who were often forgotten by the medical community and charitable organisations in the past. One poster thanked the organisation for recognising \"the cloak of invisibility\" surrounding their illness and praised the company for \"recognising the desperate need\" of those living with chronic conditions.

The Pineapple Fund said that they were so moved by the community\'s response that they decided to increase their donation to $5 million.
