On 2nd February, SpaceChain Foundation confirmed that a rocket carrying the SpaceChain satellite, running Qtum full node, was launched successfully at Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center. The official statement also revealed that the satellite would enter orbit and later be in operation.
\r\nSpaceChain confirmed that they hope the satellite will be the world\'s premier open-source network in space, working entirely from Blockchain technology and nodes. Furthermore, they have revealed that they have plans to release two additional satellites later on in the year so that they can create a network of Blockchain sites.
\r\nZheng Zuo, the co-founder and CEO of SpaceChain explained that the rocket launch was a massive step in the company\'s efforts to develop a platform that enhances collective intelligence. He further commented that SpaceChain wanted to change the way in which the space industry operates by offering improved use of space, quicker discovery times and better access to innovative technology. SpaceChain has also stated that it has plans to put money generated by cost reductions from the technology into the progression of space medicine, agricultural efforts in space and purifying freshwater.
