The UK\'s first Bitcoin armed robbery has taken place after Danny Aston, a City broker, was forced to hand over his cryptocurrency fortune. Recent media reports revealed that four masked men arrived at Aston\'s home in the Oxfordshire countryside and held him and his partner, Amy Jay, at gunpoint.
\r\nIt is believed that 40-year old Mr Aston traded and invested digital currency under the name \'Goldiath\' and could have been singled out as a result of this. The couple has not returned to their family home, and local schools were also locked, while children were told to remain inside.
\r\nThe armed robbers allegedly broke the door of the converted barn, keeping the couple\'s young baby outside of the property, demanding Aston to move his Bitcoin using a computer. Police have revealed that the robbers were seen in balaclavas, going over a fence by a local witness. A spokesman for Thames Valley Police confirmed that police were called just before 10 am to reports of a residential property being broken into and that the occupants had been threatened.
\r\nOfficers have confirmed that there were no serious injuries, and while the investigation has only just begun, it appears to have been a targeted attack.
