Fin24Tech in Johannesburg reported on January 19th that there might be a new cryptocurrency app launched soon in South Africa. Going against the opinions of financial traditionalists and responding to \"soaring global demand,\" The deVere Group is expected to launch the app within weeks.

\r\n

The company is renowned in the hotel business but also operates as an independent international financial consultant, based in Durban. This will be the firm\'s second major investment in fintech and is seen as a move to \"ride the cryptocurrency wave.\" The new app will allow users to exchange, transfer and store five of the major cryptocurrencies, which include Bitcoin and Ethereum.

\r\n

deVere Crypto which was termed as \"pioneering\" by CEO Nigel Green, and will be available for both Apple and Android. Once released, the app will compete with other apps and digital currency services already used by South African citizens, such as the popular Luno, for local trading in Ethereum and Bitcoin. This app can also be used for cryptocurrency purchases with QuickResponse code payment. Luno was recently tested in a trial run by the retailer, Pick n Pay, whose customers were enabled to pay for items in Bitcoin.

South Africans also use Bitfinex, a popular international trading platform which has is now the world’s largest Bitcoin exchange.
