Earlier this week, the well-known Ethereum wallet, which is called MyEtherWallet (MEW) rebranded to MyCrypto without any warning.

An announcement was made on social media by Taylor Monahan, and many people realised that the twitter account name of the wallet had changed. Monahan\'s decision to change the social media accounts name came at the same time as she announced a new cryptocurrency wallet service, MyCrypto.

Monahan explained that the technology used to create MyEtherWallet was only useful for the early stages of the wallet and now, an improved and more efficient wallet was needed in the form of MyCrypto. In her official statement, she also revealed the history of the original wallet and detailed the toll it had taken on her personal and professional life.

Kosala Hemachandra, MyEtherWallet\'s co-founder, responded to the news and said he was unaware of the rebranding and said it was completed without his permission. He then confirmed that he would be investigating the matter. He then later explained that the partnership between Monahan and himself had concluded. He continued to say that during the ending of the partnership, the twitter account of MyEtherWallet was changed. He is yet to confirm any reasoning behind the name change but did thank Monahan for her work towards MyEtherWallet. However, many traders have criticised the move as well as the delay in Hemachandra\'s response.
