\r\nA Swiss evangelical church in the city of Zurich has announced that it will now accept donations and offerings in the form of cryptocurrencies. According to the ICF Zurich, the evangelical church will accept donations via bitcoin, ether, stellar lumen, ripple, and bitcoin cash.
\r\nNicolas Legler, a church spokesman, said that cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology will soon change peoples lives, and that its impact will only increase in the coming years. The spokesman went on to compare the current state of cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology to where the internet was 20 years ago, when many people would not believe how it would come to impact all aspects of everyday life.
\r\nCryptocurrencies have continued to change the way in which people donate money. The Pineapple Fund is a bitcoin charity which has raised $86 million – this has been used to fund a number of projects, such as improving access to healthcare in Nepal, testing the theory of an African universal basic income, and developing new treatments for PTSD.
