As February looms on the horizon, most cryptocurrencies are falling in value. One altcoin, however, is showing a marked improvement, with a 60% surge when it was listed on a new exchange on January 31st. Within 30 minutes of the announcement, Lisk (LSK) leapt up from $21.63 to $35.26. It subsequently dropped back, but still maintains a 21% growth, and currently holds the #15 position in global market cap rankings.

BitFlyer, a popular Japanese cryptocurrency exchange, added LSK to its trading pairs today, and the spike in interest caused the exchange to go dark for a while as they dealt with the unexpected demand. This unprecedented response may help Lisk set up its new image when they complete their rebranding exercise, in progress for some months. The new, rebranded and tech-updated Lisk is now due to be launched on February 20th in Berlin, with a live stream from the event.

Lisk was inaugurated in 2016 as a public blockchain platform providing decentralised apps. Its advantage in the competitive dapp arena is that it uses JavaScript as its core language, which allows a greater number of developers to join its ecosystem. LSK maintained a fairly steady value of only $1 in 2017, so the new positioning shows a substantial growth in interest.
