Reports from FOX Business suggest that the CEO of JPMorgan Chase, Jamie Dimon, now regrets saying that bitcoin was a "fraud," although he is still not a supporter of the cryptocurrency. Dimon is quoted as saying: "The bitcoin to me was always what the governments are gonna feel about bitcoin as it gets really big, and I just have a different opinion than other people. I'm not interested that much in the subject at all."
Dimon suggested that bitcoin was a fraud on 12th September 2017. He also stated that he would be prepared to fire any traders who were discovered to be trading the cryptocurrency. In October, Dimon insisted that he was finished talking about bitcoin. However, shortly after making what seemed like his final statement, he said that anyone "stupid enough" to invest in bitcoin would "pay the price."
Viktor Shvets, head of global and Asia-Pacific equity strategy for Macquarie, countered the claim that bitcoin was a fraud, by saying that despite the "extreme speculation," the cryptocurrency uses technology which is likely to continue to strengthen and evolve. Despite his dislike of bitcoin, Dimon conceded that Blockchain technology could still prove to be very useful.
