A Canadian government initiative named The National Research Council of Canada (NRC) is now exploring the use and potential benefits of ethereum Blockchain for filing and documenting government contracts. During the trial, the NRC is said to be using Blockchain startup Bitaccess’ Catena platform in order to publish information and data on government contributions and grants.
\r\nThe news is the latest efforts of the government in order to enhance transparency by using Blockchain technology. The group also aim to explore how Blockchain technology could potentially be used to aid the governmentin other areas.
\r\nMoe Adham, the Bitaccess co-founder explained that the Catena Blockchain Suite was created to assist and benefit companies in becoming accustomed to using the technology. He added that they want businesses to become transparent when dealing with public information.

However, this is not the first official association in Canada to investigate Blockchain technology and its beneficial uses. The country’s central bank previously started exploring Blockchain technology and Blockchain-based platforms, most specifically with settlement systems. The project, which has been dubbed Project Jasper, is now in its 3rd stage and has carried out inquiries into resiliency and securities settlements during times of stress.
