A warning is out on social media platforms regarding a scam currently in progress. Using a plausible email invitation, targeted addressees are offered a 24-hour opportunity to join a fake ICO offering Bee Tokens. The scammer has apparently got hold of a third party mailing list, and has so far managed to steal at least 240 ETH (worth $1,109.90 each on February 1st).
\r\nThe phishing email provided an Ether wallet address and invited recipients to send them an amount of ETH within the 24 hour limit, in order to secure participation in a fictitious Bee Token ICO. The wallet address and its contents was posted on IMGUR, showing at that time a balance of some 24 ETH, worth in the region of $26,300. The balance at press time was over 241 ETH, though another associated Ether Wallet contained some 533 ETH. Both wallets carry the same warning about the phishing scam.
\r\nThe email also mentioned a partnership with Microsoft. They offered 100% for all Bee tokens sent within the following six hours, and guaranteed that they would double in price within two months. Even further, they offered a money-back guarantee of ETH contributions if this didn\'t happen.
\r\nThe usual business adage applies: if it looks too good to be true – then it isn\'t true.
