Samourai Wallet has announced a new app called Pony Direct, which will allow users to send bitcoin via the mobile SMS service which is more commonly used for text messaging.
\r\nThe primary benefit of using the SMS system is that it will allow users to forward their bitcoin transactions even if internet access to their wallet has been blocked. By using the app to send the transaction via SMS to an internet connected Android device which is located in an area which has unrestricted internet access, users can get around any restrictions which are in place in the sender\'s geographical location.
\r\nThe launch of Pony Direct comes during a time of increased government action against coin exchanges, with many governments, such as China and South Korea, introducing strict new regulations or even attempting to ban the use of cryptocurrencies. If a government does decide to take action to prohibit cryptocurrencies, it is very likely that the first action will be to block internet access to coin exchanges and wallets.
\r\nAlthough the app is currently only compatible with Android devices, it is hoped that an iOS version will launch in late 2018. If Pony Direct is successful, it could prove a vital tool for investors around the globe who still wish to access their bitcoin wallet in the face of official action.
